Brief Biography

After graduating from Bristol University with a Joint Honours B.A. degree in French and German , I completed my Postgraduate Certificate of Education at Goldsmiths’ College (University of London).   This launched me into a lifelong career in secondary education, first as a French and German teacher in two Hertfordshire schools, before moving to North West London where I became a Head of Modern Languages in what was to become one of the first six Language Colleges under the Specialist Schools Initiative. Finally, I was appointed to a Deputy Headship in a boys’ secondary school in the London Borough of Camden with a vast range of responsibilities, from pastoral and disciplinary to leadership of Teaching, Learning and Staff Professional Development.  I retired in 2015 but have maintained my passion for education which has led me to volunteer as a governor in two schools.

I am a practising Anglican and longstanding member of the Parish Council of Christchurch with St. Laurence, Brondesbury, NW6.

I am married with one grown-up son.

Retirement has allowed me time for my many interests and hobbies :  foreign travel, learning Spanish, reading ,theatre and cinema, walking , swimming, yoga and Pilates.
