Our links with The Royal Hospital, Chelsea

Each year, Y5 and Y6 children from three Deanery schools, Christ Church, Holy Trinity and St Cuthbert with St Matthias, visit the Royal Hospital, Chelsea to take part in a Remembrance Day service. Children from each school have created poppy wreaths for the services. The children meet with some of the Chelsea Pensioners and are able to ask them questions about their experiences of wartime.

This year, our Y4 class have also met with some of the Pensioners as part of their story-telling project, Tales from the Community. The Pensioners shared tales from wartime and these were recorded by some Y4 children. They then listened to our children share their own personal stories.
