Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium Fund was introduced by the Government in 2011. The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded school in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
The Pupil Premium is paid to schools as they are best placed to assess what additional provision their pupils need. Ofsted inspections report on how schools’ use of the funding affects the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils. They also hold schools to account through performance tables, which include data on:
- The attainment of the pupils who attract the funding.
- The progress made by these pupils.
- The gap in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)
St Cuthbert with St Matthias School is dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning opportunities to meet the needs of all pupils and particularly vulnerable and financially disadvantaged pupils.
The pupil premium funding is used to ensure that all children who are eligible for free school meals or are looked after by the local authority are supported in making progress. This progress is continually monitored and there is an expectation that over Key Stage 2 the majority, if not all, pupils will make a minimum of two levels progress in Reading, Writing and Maths.
Our aims are:
- To close the gap in attainment for disadvantaged pupils in all subjects.
- To maintain high expectations and standards for all pupils who are disadvantaged.
- To ensure that all pupils have some opportunities to develop their academic, aesthetic, social and sporting potential.
